Introduction to Kolocep, Croatia
Kolocep is one of the Elaphiti Islands off the southern coast of Croatia, in the Adriatic Sea, around five kilometres from the country's historic city of Dubrovnik. Regular ferries cross between Dubrovnik and Kolocep with a journey time of about 20 minutes. It boasts small caves and sandy beaches lapped by pristine blue waters. Hotels in Kolocep are scattered around the island, which is home to two small villages: Gornje Celo and Donje Celo, which are near some of the villa style accommodations. There is a car-free zone and crossing the island is achieved by walking on the many paths that traverse the island and pass through olive groves and copses of pine trees. As the island is only around three kilometres long, most of the cafes and cosy eateries can easily be reached from the properties. The district offers the chance of daytrips to other Elaphiti Islands and the medieval city at Dubrovnik.
