Introduction to Dubrovnik - Cavtat
Cavtat is a small seaside town in the south of Croatia which is located 15kms south of the city of Dubrovnik. It is a popular tourist resort and there are many Cavtat hotels and other accommodation located throughout the town. The scenic seafront area is filled with local shops and a ferry connects the town to nearby Dubrovnik and Mlini. You can also often see many private luxury ships docked at the strand. The natural beauty of the surrounding countryside and the clear blue water of the Adriatic Sea are among the main reasons visitors find the town so appealing. Cavtat boasts unique bay areas and beautiful beaches for its visitors to relax on. The waterfront is lined with numerous bars and restaurants which provide some rather expensive local specialities which are well worth sampling. Behind the vibrant promenade and harbour front are the cream coloured Greco-Venetian houses which line the small hill leading up to the Old Town. Here, in the narrow back streets, you get a real taste of this Mediterranean fishing town. The best view is from the Mausoleum, which is located on top of the town's highest hill.
