Introduction to Brac Island - Bol
With its unique Golden Cape beach, whose size shifts with the currents and tides, Bol on Brac Island is not only a geographical wonder but a hugely popular seaside resort. The windy conditions on the strait, which faces the nearby Croatian island of Hvar, make Bol ideal for windsurfing, and the Adriatic here is notoriously clear so it's good for snorkeling too. The backdrop to the coastline is a pine forest that gives the whole place an attractive feel. The walking here is excellent. Other activities away from the shoreline include sightseeing at points of interest including the Dominican church, which features works by Tripo Koklja, a famous painter of the Adriatic region at the turn of the 17th century. The large influx of tourists to Bol helps the resort to sustain a healthy number of restaurants and cafés, many of which lie close to the sea.
