Introduction to Puntarenas - Dominical
Most visitors to the tiny village of Dominical on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica come for the strong surf and chocolate brown sands. However, Dominical has also become a popular gateway for excursions into the village’s beautiful surrounding rainforests and mountains. One especially popular daytrip is a nearby working cocoa plantation north of Dominical. Hotels in Dominical vary greatly from budget cabanas overlooking the beach to luxury resorts where no expense is spared. Many Dominical hotels and cabinas rent surfboards to guests for extra fees, and other unique amenities at various cabinas and hotels in Dominical include hammocks, free coffee, and uniquely decorated rooms. Regardless of which hotels in Dominical visitors choose, though, advance reservations are strongly recommended, especially during the busy winter season from December to April. Prices of Dominical hotels also tend to rise between December and April. Camping on the beach is also permitted for visitors who don’t mind roughing it, and some cabinas will allow campers to use their showers.Visit our Puntarenas Travel Guide
