Introduction to Limon - Tortuguero
Tortuguero is a popular eco tourism destination in Costa Rica. Tortuguero is a very small town on the island of Tortuguero and is accessible by boat. There are no cars, most people either walk or use a bicycle but there is only one street. Along the street you will find local gift shops, adventure tour agencies, bars and restaurants. Some Tortuguero hotels are located in the town. The beautiful beach at Tortuguero is a protected nesting area for the endangered green turtle but hawksbill, leatherback and loggerhead turtles also come to nest here. There are hotels in Tortuguero located close to the pretty beach and it is possible to go and visit the nesting sites.
