Walking tours: most of Shanghai can be explored by walking and taking in the sights. The Bund, Nanjing road, the French Concession and numerous parks make for ideal walking areas.
Courses: such as Tai Chi, mah-jong, tea appreciation, Feng Shui and basic Chinese astrology can all be learnt in a short time. There are also cooking courses where you can learn both exotic cooking as well as the simpler Chinese fare.
Golf: is played enthusiastically here and there are more than 25 golf courses scattered around Shanghai, many of which are open to the public.
Climbing: the Masterhand Climbing Club, located in the city, offers indoor and outdoor climbing walls. They also arrange for hiking, mountaineering and camping trips to many scenic areas around Shanghai province. The Ozark Rock Climbing club offers a variety of walls to test your strength and skills against including walls for beginners and experts.
