Hong Kong Travel Guide - Introduction
Hong Kong is divided into different districts with each district offering several places of interest to visit and things to enjoy. The northern part of the island is densely populated and the main business and nightlife districts are located here. This is also a great place for shopping with numerous shopping malls, markets and also fantastic restaurants to dine at. The southern pat of the island offers beautiful beaches, a less frenzied pace and many leisure activities. Thousands of people live in Chinese junks in the Aberdeen harbour area, a fascinating area to visit.
The peninsular of Kowloon is home to a number of interesting sites such as Nathan road, with its hundred of electronic shops; Kowloon Park and of course the waterfront promenade. The New Territories was leased to the British for one hundred years in 1898 and offers a quieter and more relaxed pace. The Sam Tung UK Museum, a restored Hakka village and the Western Monastery are two of its highlights but the best thing about the New Territories is its splendid views of craggy mountains and hills.
The best time to visit Hong Kong is in October and November when the climate is ideal, humidity is low and the weather cool.
