Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall: is located on the original site of Sun Yat-sen’s Presidential Office on the southern slope of Yuexiu Hill. A key venue for major performances, the hall covers an enormous area of 12,000 square metres and has magnificent exterior and interior designs. You can also see a five metre tall bronze statue of Dr Sun standing in front of the hall.
Chen Family Ancestral Temple: built between 1890 and 1894, during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing dynasty, this ancestral temple is the largest and best-preserved ancient building in the city. This temple used house members of the Chen family when they came to prepare for imperial examinations in Guangzhou. The temple boasts six courtyards, nine main halls and nineteen buildings. Highlights at the temple include historical figures made out of wood, brick, clay and iron casts.
Yuexiu Park: is the biggest park in Guangzhou, boasting a variety of flowers and trees as well as some lakes. Yuexiu Park is also where the famous Zhenhai Tower is located. Also known as Five-Storey Pagoda, the tower was built in the Ming dynasty and now houses the City Museum.
White Cloud Mountain: is one of the most picturesque mountains in the city. It is made up of 30 peaks and is located about 7kms from the city. There are many historical relics scattered around the area which are just waiting to be explored.
Bright Filial Piety Temple: one of the earliest and most beautiful temples in the city, the Bright Filial Piety Temple served as a fancy mansion of Prince Jiande of the Nanyue Kingdom during the Western Han dynasty (206 BC to AD 24). The temple was first constructed by an Indian monk in the Jin dynasty and re-built in the Qing dynasty.
