Beijing Amusement Park: Beijing’s answer to Disneyland is the city’s first modern amusement park and is home to a variety of themed rides and attractions aimed at both children and adults. The Super Train and the Water Car are among the highlights on offer while an aquarium, 3D cinema and Magic Castle make for slightly more sedate pedestrianised entertainment. Shows from circuses and stuntmen air at popular times of the year.
Beijing Chao Yang Theatre: every evening at 19:15, the Beijing Chao Yang Theatre gives a performance of extraordinary acrobatics involving performers who have been trained into the art from being children. Various routines are presented including bicycle balancing tricks, human pyramids and contortionism.
Beijing Haiyangguan (Beijing Aquarium): hailed as the ‘The world's largest inland aquarium’, is an impressive facility, the highlight of which is a 3.5 million litre tank containing marine species from every ocean on the planet. Another 18 tanks are on show, each with a specific theme and home to an appropriate selection of sea creatures. Children will love the daily dolphin shows which air at 11:00 and 15:00.
City Tours: local tour operators offer visitors the chance to see the city’s most interesting sights through a series of day-long tours that generally include hotel pick-ups/drop-offs, meals, admission to all sites and English speaking guides. There are so many interesting sights on offer that the tours are split with some repeating the places they visit, giving tourists the chance to pick a schedule that best suits them.
