More than 1,000 restaurants cater to the 15 million people residing in Beijjing, providing cuisine that represents almost every region of the country as well as having its own specialities that are associated with the city. Beijjing has eateries that cover pretty much every budget with everything from cheap noodle vendors to upmarket restaurants. The local culture is very much based around eating out and it’s not unusual for Beijjing residents to take all three meals of the day at restaurants, roadside vendors or food markets.

If it’s a good value, authentic evening meal that you are looking for then head for the Donghuamen Night Market where you’ll find countless food stalls cooking all manner of local delicacies. For something a little more upmarket, try the Dongcheng, Chaoyang or Chongwen districts.
