Introduction to Zhaoqing, China
With the Xijiang River to the south and a system of lakes to the north, Zhaoqing has a unique layout and enticing scenic attractions that have made it popular with tourists. In Xinghu Lake Scenic Area, Fairy and Star lakes are surrounded by the limestone peaks called the Seven Star Crags. These celestial crags outline the shape of the Big Dipper and form Butterfly Valley between the two bodies of water. On Mount Dinghu, a UNESCO-protected natural reserve, visitors can walk amid ancient trees, waterfalls and Qingyun Temple, one of the most important temples in South China. Many Zhaoqing hotels are located within the ancient city walls, built 800 years ago during the Song Dynasty. Chongxi Pagoda, made of nine tiers of octagonal stone flanked by intricate statues, towers at the bank of the River Dongxi on Yaolong Hill. In neighbouring Kaifeng, Baogong Memorial Temple honours Bao Zheng, a great high-rank official known for his honesty and virtuous relations with the folk community. Travellers who make it to Zhaoqing may be lucky enough to see one of the city's famous lion or dragon dances, performed throughout the year at various festivals and ceremonies.other spellings: zhaoqing otel, zhoaqing hotell, zhoaging hote, zoaging hotes, shaoging hotels
