Introduction to Xianyang, China
With the Jiuzong Mountains to the north and the Wei River to the south, China's first feudal dynasty made Xianyang the country capital, which it remained for over a century. A total of 13 dynasties centred the nation in Xianyang, leaving a score of emperors' tombs and mausoleums as a legacy. Today, these are some of the city's main attractions, with visitors touring the final resting places of such imperial figures as Crown Prince Zhanghuai, Princess Yongtai, Crown Prince Yide and General Huo Qubing. There are 17 tombs in total, each decorated in beautiful and haunting murals, and filled with antique ceramics and other regal trinkets. The Qian Mausoleum is uniquely shared by Emperor Gao Zong of the Tang Dynasty and his commanding Empress Wu Zetian, China's lone female monarch. There is a great local history museum in the city centre, focusing on the Qin and Han dynasties, easily within reach of most Xianyang hotels. West of the city is the Great Buddha Temple, famous for its giant statue of Amitabha in the main grotto. Long after its reign as capital city, Xianyang has retained its cultural importance, making it an important stop for tourists exploring China.other spellings: zianyang otel, zianyang hotell, xainyang hote, xainyang hotle
