Introduction to Wuxi - Beitang
Beitang District, a suburb of Wuxi city, with its contrasting old quarters set adjacent to industrial areas, is famous for its arts and culture, especially its gardens and scroll paintings. It is set in Jiangsu Province's Nanjing Prefecture and composed of five sub-districts. The city itself is ancient, divided in two by Lake Tai and bordering Suzhou to the east and Changzhou to the west, with the mighty Yangtse River running nearby. Close to the booming mega-city of Shanghai, Wuxi's nickname is 'Pearl of Lake Tai' and its motto is 'Full of Warmth and Water'. Founded 3,000 years ago during the Zhou Dynasty, it was an agricultural hub throughout most of its history. Traditional canals lined with homes cross the city, known for its weathered limestone foothills, the source of the traditional Chinese contemplation objects known as 'Scholars' Rocks'. Beitang hotels offer accommodation for visitors eager to explore the lower Yangtse delta with its natural and manmade treasures.other spellings: beitang otel, beitang hotell, beitang hote, beitang hotles, beitang hotle, beitang hotes
