Introduction to Urumqi - City Centre
In China’s northwest, at a point between Mongolia and Kazakhstan, is the flourishing city of Urumqi. It is one of the few cities in this area of the country and most of the Urumqi hotels are located in the centre, and in the northern area close to the airport. Urumqi city centre is an ideal base for visitors who want to explore this fascinating place and to visit the large International Grand Bazaar, which is a market square in the Islamic style and is the largest of its kind in the world. Tourists can also visit the Silk Road Museum, which is next to the bazaar and tells the history of the famous Silk Road across Asia.
