Introduction to Tianjin - Binhai
As with so many other parts of China, Binhai in Tianjin is changing rapidly. Major development is being undertaken to make the most of this vibrant and spectacular area on Tianjin's coast. The district covers some 183km2 and includes the areas of Dagang, Hangu and Tanggu. Public transport is centred on a modern light rail system called Binhai Mass Transit, which links downtown Tianjin with the Tianjin Economic Development Area. Additionally, there is a modern rail network named the TEDA Modern Guided Rail Tram. Though the area traditionally sees relatively little tourism by foreigners or Chinese, this is expected to change in coming years as the full effects of the economic and infrastructure development begin to take hold. Still, Binhai hotels are in plentiful supply and cover a wide range of budgets and styles. Business is a big activity in this area, with nearly 300 of the world's largest global corporations having offices here. A raft of economic incentives has attracted many famous names in manufacturing.
