Introduction to Tianjin - Airport
Tianjin Airport, formally known as Tianjin Binhai International Airport, serves the city in the middle of eastern China. Although Beijing International Airport is just 140kms away, growing numbers of visitors have chosen to fly directly to the city's own airport and stay in Tianjin Airport hotels. Between the years 2000 and 2008, the hub's total annual passenger traffic figures skyrocketed from just over 884,000 to more than four and a half million people, making this the 11th busiest airport in all of China. Once construction on the facilities's new terminal is completed, the hub will have a maximum passenger capacity of 40 million and be about the same size as Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.
