Introduction to Shaoxing - City Centre
Shaoxing city centre is a spell-binding combination of historic architecture, ancient culture and modern Chinese city life set among bridges, canals and rivers. The city is packed with attractions, from parks and waterways, to museums, cultural attractions and modern shopping malls. East Lake, just three kilometres from the centre of Shaoxing, is one of Zhejiang Province's Three Famous Lakes. The city's famous rice wine should be sampled, as should the bargain clothes shopping. One need not stray far from Shaoxing City Centre hotels to enjoy this city, however. It takes only a few minutes to find some of the pretty waterways that criss-cross the city. River tours on awning-covered Wupeng boats are a great way to see the city. Wandering the streets is even easier and just as much fun. Don't miss Buxing Road, where classic small Chinese goods like old money, stamps, gift items and pets are sold.
