Discount Shantou China Hotels

Shantou is a city with a population of 0.5 million on the east coast of China’s Guangdong Province. It is around 250kms east of Hong Kong. Hotels in Shantou are located around the city on Jin Sha Road and also facing Shantou Harbour. As Shantou is less of a tourist destination and more of a commercial and shipping centre, Shantou hotel facilities are aimed more at business people than tourists. Shantou hotels include several four and five star options as well as spartan travellers guest houses. Shantou has one of China’s best universities along with a historic old quarter with a mix of old European and traditional Chinese structures. Shantou beaches are okay if not spotlessly clean. Zong Xin Beach is the most popular. Better beaches are found on Nan Ao Island. Nan Ao features lovely coastline and scenery with spectacular sunsets. There are a few more Shantou hotels and resorts on the island. Regular ferries to Nan Ao Island leave from nearby Chenghai Laiwu during the day. Journey time is around 30 minutes.
