Introduction to Shanghai - Zhabei
Shanghai's Zhabei is a major transportation hub for the city due to it housing Shanghai Railway Station as well as a large bus terminal. Many first-time visitors arrive in the city here before moving on to the more popular tourist areas like the Bund and Pudong by metro or public bus. Zhabei hotels make for an inexpensive alternative to accommodation in Shanghai's higher-end districts. The area is possibly the best place in the city to pick up a new or second-hand mobile phone at Dipingxian Communications Device Market. As the area is on the west bank of the Huangpu River, it is also a convenient spot from which to access the city's international airport. Traffic Park is a nice spot to unwind while the Jade Buddha Temple, housing two jade Buddha images from Burma, is also here.
