Introduction to Shanghai - Jiading
Shanghai's Jiading is a suburb in the northwestern part of the bustling and vibrant port city. The suburb is located just 20kms from the centre of Shanghai and home to some of the major attractions in the city. The two main landmarks in this suburb are the Confucius Temple, which dates back 800 years, and the Fahua Pagoda, made of wood and brick. A fun visit is the Bamboo Carving Museum, which showcases amazing and intricate bamboo carvings, some of which date back 400 years. This suburb is also home to the Shanghai International Circuit, which was built in 2004 and is home to the F1 Chinese Grand Prix. Designed by famous German race circuit designer Hermann Tilke, this circuit is a must-visit for racing fans. The area is also a vibrant student hang-out, being home to a Shanghai University campus.
