Introduction to Nanchong, China
In the northeast of China's scenic Sichuan Province is the city of Nanchong, a provincial government centre with little in the way of tourist attractions. The Jialing River runs right through the city, serving as an important transport link to other destinations in China. Many of the tourists who visit Nanchong are simply passing through with a quick stopover during their river cruise. The city is big enough to offer a decent range of restaurants and shops but there are virtually no Western-focused tourist amenities here. Plenty of Nanchong hotels can be found along the river near the piers as well as scattered throughout the downtown core. Yuping Park and Wanglong Lake are two notable natural sites in Nanchong that are good for an afternoon in the fresh air. The main attraction in this area, however, is Langzhong Ancient City just upriver.
