Introduction to Macau, China
Macau is an old Portuguese colony which has turned into a gambling mecca.

Its peninsula and two former islands, now connected by the Cotai Strip, can be easily reached by ferry from Hong Kong.

Most Macau hotels are part of casinos, which are largely situated along the southern side of the peninsula.

The casinos offer plenty of attractions, from shows to gambling.

However, there is more to do than just gamble here.

The most famous landmark of this special administrative region of China is the ruins of St Paul's, with only its original facade still standing.

It is one of 25 buildings that have been designed UNESCO World Heritage buildings along with the 16th century Portuguese fortress.

Visitors should seek out the Heritage Walk Circuit to see all these buildings.

To learn about the history of the region, head to the Macau Museum.

For the best views of the region, head to the top of the Macau Tower.
