Introduction to Lhasa, China
With a name that translates to 'Land of the Gods', Lhasa is located on the Himalayas’ northern slopes. As the capital of Tibet, Lhasa draws a sizeable tourist crowd from the adventurous types trekking through Kathmandu. While hotels in Lhasa are in no way luxurious, they are appropriate and suitable for a journey through the city. Because of the backpacker’s affinity for Tibet and Lhasa, there are a number of budget hotels in Lhasa available. The Dong Lu area has a wide variety of low cost and budget hotels with a range of amenities. For those with a slightly bigger budget, there are a number of mid range hotels in Lhasa. There are few higher end hotels, which are at best two-star accommodations by European standards. These higher range accommodations are largely owned by the government and are much more expensive than the midrange choices. It is always best to call ahead and enquire about the conditions of your proposed accommodation.other spellings: lasa otel, lhaza hote, lhasa hotell, lhasar hotle, larsa hotes, lhasahotels
