Situated along China’s Yellow River, Lanzhou is an ancient city originally known as the Golden City. While not overly popular or famed as a tourist destination, it has acted as a scenic pit-stop along the Silk Road and as a major river crossing point for centuries. Hotels in Lanzhou range from the budget friendly to those with a splurging urge inside. There are a number of budget hotels located just opposite the central train station.
