Introduction to Jiuquan, China
In terms of area, Jiuquan is the largest city in the world. At the centre of the city is the historic district of Suzhou, originally established as a military outpost on the Silk Road trade route. There is a stellar Silk Route museum located in the city, containing relics from the Jade Road collection. Beneath the museum, tourists can admire the colourful murals depicting ancient life and people on the walls of the Wei Jin Tombs. From Jiuquan hotels, visitors can see the city's main sites, like the majestic Bell and Drum Tower, precisely situated along the north-south, east-west axis. Just east of the city are the lush grounds of the Wine Spring of the Western Han Dynasty. This classical garden complex blossomed out of the legend of a Han general celebrating a great victory by pouring white wine into a fresh spring to share it with his army. The park offers spectacular views and has expanded to include a zoo.
