Introduction to Jining, China
In the east of China, in the province of Shandong is the prefectural city of Jining. It is at the northern end of the Nanyang Lake, between the Yuehe and Guanghe Rivers, and is notable as the northernmost town along the Grand Canal of China. The city is famous for being the home of ancient Chinese philosophers such as Confucius. Visitors can tour the ancient village of Qufu on the outskirts of town where there is a museum and several temples honouring Confucius. Yishan Mountain, just a few kilometres away, is a great place to escape the city and soak in the clean air and scenery of southern China. Most of the Jining hotels are in the north and central areas of the city, many of which are high rise establishments run by global and Chinese chains.
