Introduction to Jinhua, China
Best known for its dry-cured ham, the Chinese town of Jinhua has a long, rich history of Chinese lords and mystic holy men. Dozens of important and interesting cultural sites dot the landscape within and around Jinhua, most of them a bit off the tourist trail. One of the main attractions here is Jinhua Architecture Park. This collection of 17 classic pavilions has a lovely location along the Yiwu River, showcasing the design talents of some of China's most famous architects. Duke Shi's Palace of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom offers a fascinating look into the late Qing Dynasty through the compound and its impressive collection of relics. Visitors may also be interested in Hengdian Movie City, the largest movie set in Asia, with seven distinct historic epochs. Outside of town, the Double Dragon Scenic Area features surreal karst formations and caves famous for its Taoist properties.
