Introduction to Hong Kong - Tin Shui Wai
Hong Kong's Tin Shui Wai in Yuen Long district is primarily a residential area, but visitors to this part of the New Territories may be drawn to its wetlands or public swimming pools. Development of this 'new town' area only began in the late 1980s, with dozens of residential tower blocks having been built here since as public housing. Tin Shui Wai hotels complement the area's community amenities and are easy to access from other parts of Hong Kong thanks to good LRT and MRT links. Nature buffs can head for Hong Kong Wetland Park to discover the diverse wildlife that calls this tranquil environment home. Easily accessible from Tin Shui Wai is the Ping Shan Heritage Trail, a route which takes in a number of heritage buildings and monuments in Ping Shan. Allow for up to two hours to walk this one-kilometre long trail. To unwind, visitors can head for the nearby Tam Lan and Yuen Long parks, little visited by foreigners.
