Introduction to Hangzhou - Gongshu
Bustling Gongshu district occupies a significant northern corner of booming Hangzhou, the largest city of Zhejiang Province, in China's rapidly developing eastern coastal region. Gongshu is famous for its magnificent scenery. Despite the go-go economy of the last two decades, Hangzhou has managed to retain much of its unique cultural and historic heritage. Gongshu hotels make great places from which to base a thorough investigation of this intriguing urban landscape of old buildings. Hangzhou is found along a greatly scenic stretch of the Yangtze River in a key area experiencing development on southeastern China. The renovation of the famous Grand Canal and the revamping of Banshan Area has attracted attention. Also in the storied Gongshu district is the 50,000-square-metre, fan-shaped Grand Canal Square underground shopping area, where there's a teahouse and the unique Canal Culture Museum. The square combines flat and sloped design in the tradition of ancient Chinese ancient architecture. The centuries-old Venetian-style stone bridge, Gong Chen Bridge, can be found here as well.
