For more than 1,000 years, the Chinese city of Hangzhou in the north of Zhejiang Province has been one of the nation's most important cities and a key economic force in eastern China. Straddling the mighty Qiantang River, famous for a tidal bore second only to the mighty Amazon, this city attracts huge numbers of tourists keen to see the natural and cultural beauty for which it is well-known. Many Hangzhou hotels are ideally-located for key transport resources, like Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and the G2501 expressway. Around the city's northern periphery, several motorways speed towards Shanghai. Though the city's biggest parkland attraction, West Lake, is almost at the centre of Hangzhou, southern Hangzhou outskirts have an ample supply of river banks and small lakes such as those at Hanzhou Paradise and Huiyu Garden. The G92 motorway makes it easy to reach nearby Shaoxing. Both Yuhang and Fuyang are also less than an hour away by road.
