Introduction to Hami, China
In the midst of the Hami Desert, Hami (or Kumul/Qumul) is a flourishing oasis that sits on the border with Mongolia in eastern Xinjiang. Famous for its sweet, crisp Hami muskmelon and succulent mutton barbeque, the oasis is filled with lush green fields and golden hills of sand. The desert of Hami is actually a section of the Gobi Desert, isolated by the surrounding Tian Shan and Nan-shan mountain systems. Below the peaks of Tian Shan, the crisp waters of Barkol Lake stay cool for most of the year. Close by in the Bayinbuluke grassland is the enchanting Swan Lake, where visitors can watch the delicate creatures that gave the lake its name graze at nightfall. On Kaerlike Mountain, the main peak of Tian Shan, the White Stone Scenic Spot is a popular scenic attraction which features Pine Pond and the Temple of Guanyu. Wubao Tomb and the Mausoleum of the Hui King are important cultural sites accessible from Hami hotels. Just southwest of the oasis, dare to wander through Devil City, where the wind howls over a bevy of rock formations. Hami was once a main city on the Silk Road trade route; today, this sunny place is a gateway to China's vast inland.other spellings: hami otel, hami hotell, hami hote, hami hotle
