Introduction to Hailuogou, China

Hailuogou is a national park in China, officially known as Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park, and the largest city close to it is Chengdu. The closest town to the area is Moxi Town, which is known as the gateway to the park, and many hotels in Hailuogou are located here. The park is in the Chinese region of Sichuan, in the south of the country, and features numerous geographic attractions, such as ancient glaciers, virgin forests, a grand glacier cascade and hot springs. The Grand Glacier Cascade boasts a drop of 1,080m. Conch Gully’s hot springs are hidden under ice or snow in the winter, with several situated in virgin forest. Tucked away in a yew forest is the ice lake of Shuihaizi. The best time to visit the park area is in summer, when temperatures hover around 25°C. Moxi’s eateries offer an interesting rage of delicacies such as caterpillar fungus and bulb of fritillary.
