Introduction to Guangzhou - Liwan
Liwan is one of the 10 districts in southeastern China's economic powerhouse, Guangzhou Province. It is fully alive with plenty of historic sites and other cultural attractions. Top sites in this central western city district include the Chen Learning Academy (Chen Clan Temple) and Shamian Ancient Buildings, Hualin Temple, Taoism's Zhenwudi Renwei Temple, the former residence of Jiang Guangding and Xiguan Old Houses. Tourists also flock to historic sites where Zhan Tianyou, Dr Sun Yat-sen, Tang Tingguang and Chen Shaobai lived or worked. Spending the night at Liwan hotels makes appreciating all these attractions all the easier. The Liwan District Administration has grouped these sites into four areas for the convenience of travellers. They are the Shamian Continental Tourist Area, the Xiguan Folk Custom Area, the Shisanhang Commercial and Cultural Area, and the Chen Clan Temple Cultural and Leisure Area.
