Introduction to Guangzhou - Haizhu
One of the 12 administrative districts of the city of Guangzhou is Haizhou. Part of the third-largest city in China, this district is located in the south-central part of this sprawling city. Home to some of the most expensive real estate in the city, the waterfront here has been built up with high-rise condominiums. However, it is still nice to stroll around. There are several large parks which attract visitors on weekday evenings and weekends, such as Shangyong Guoshu Park. The main landmark in the district is the gateway at Sun Yat-sen University, which has its campus right off the river bank. Good shopping can be enjoyed at the wholesale market near Haizhou Square and Yide Lu Road. Well known among locals, this market is not yet a tourist trap, so good deals can still be had here. There are Haizhou hotels located all over the district, from international chains to local Chinese establishments.
