Introduction to Guangzhou - City Centre
Guangzhou city centre is famous for being the industrial heart of China. The city is located in southern China, along the Pearl River, and is the third-largest city in China. Although not a big tourist destination, it has a lot to offer visitors. There are many attractions worth seeing in the centre. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial, built in 1931, with its beautiful garden is one of them. The Yuntai Garden is a must-visit, with its beautiful fountain and rare plants and flowers. A bit more unusual is the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the largest in southern China. Guangzhou has European influences and former concessions of the British and French are found on Shamian Island. The French-built Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel on the island has been restored. The city is also home to numerous museums and galleries, the best of which are the City Art Museum and the Guangdong Museum of Art. Guangzhou city centre hotels are spread throughout the city, with many clustered around Liuhuahu Lake.Visit our Guangzhou Travel Guide
