The Temple of Six Banyan Trees is the world-famous ancient Buddhist temple was built in the Liang dynasty. The main purpose of this temple was to store the Buddhist bones brought from Cambodia. The name comes from a famous writer, Su Shi, who visited the temple and was so fascinated by the beauty of six banyan trees surrounding the temple that he wrote an inscription ‘Liu Rong’ which means six banyan trees. The temple is home to a stunning Pagoda and the Grand Hall which houses the three largest brass Buddha images in Guangdong province.
