Introduction to Guangxi, China
Bordering Vietnam to the northeast is the expansive, mountainous region of Guangxi. The capital city of Nanning is one of China's greenest cities, filled with tropical parks, botanical gardens and a zoo. On the Yong River sits Yangmei Ancient Town, filled with homes from the Ming Dynasty. The region reaches the Gulf of Tonkin, providing a short coastline; dare to try the local delicacy of sandworms in the seaport of Beihai. The true gem of the region is Guilin, Guangxi's historic capital on the Li River, famous for its ethereal karst peaks and intricate pagodas jutting up from the cityscape. While admiring the dynamic landscape, be sure to pick up the city's 'three treasures' - Guilin chili sauce, fermented tofu and three-flower liquor. The karst formations continue south to Yangshuo, a town increasingly popular with backpackers for its superb rock climbing (particularly on Moon Hill) and its growing number of tourist-catered activities like bamboo rafting, tea ceremonies and calligraphy and cooking classes. Travellers who find themselves in Guangxi hotels will not be able to resist the charm of this breathtaking region.other spellings: guanxi otel, guanxi hotell, gaungxy hote, guangxy hotes
