Introduction to Foshan - Nanhai
Naihai is a district of the prefecture-level Foshan city, in Guangdong Province, southeastern China. The top feature here is definitely Naihai Temple, which dates to a millennium ago. Buddhists come here for worship. This sacred temple spot marks the trailhead for the marine Silk Route and has been in service for more than 14 centuries. The area is scrumptiously hemmed in by mountains. In summer, the area is particularly arresting for its singing birds and blooming lotus. There's a fine statue of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, southwest of here in Nanguo Peach Garden, on Mount Xiqiao, an extinct volcano that is considered to be a pearl of the landscapes of southern Guangdong. Found in the area are no fewer than 72 peaks, 28 waterfalls, 208 springs, 36 caves, two lakes and nine scenic districts. Many of these attractions are preserved in national forest parks.
