Introduction to Dunhuang, China
Dunhuang in Gansu Province lies on the Silk Road close to the Taklamakan Desert. The best time to visit Dunhuang is between May and September. For visitors to the region, there are plenty of hotels in Dunhuang to choose from to suit all budgets. Most visitors staying in Dunhuang hotels have come to explore this desert region and there are numerous sights to visit such as the Mogao Grottoes, Crescent Moon Spring Oasis hidden among the sand dunes and Mingsha Mountain sometimes referred to as Echoing Sand Mountain. You will also see Sun Pass which is the Great Wall of China’s last outpost. Within the city itself, there are numerous temple and pagodas to wander around and in the evenings, there is a busy night market primarily selling goods from the Chinese Hui People.
