Introduction to Chaohu, China
Chaohu city sits at the mouth of Chao Lake, one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China. Legend states that the lake was once a thriving city that was punished for the sins of its inhabitants by a massive flood. Only two residents survived, an honourable old lady and her daughter, who became the lake's Laoshan and Mushan islands, respectively. The islands hold many cultural sites, including Wenfeng Pagoda, Shengfei Temple, a number of pavilions and Nantang Port. On the northern bank, Zhongmiao Temple offers superb views and history on its enshrined Taoist deity, Bi Xia Yuan Jun. There are three hot springs surrounding the Chao as well as Immortal's Cave. The city's most popular culinary treats include silver fish, shrimp and crab from the lake, known as the 'three treasures'. Chaohu hotels provide travellers with access to the area's resplendent mountains, including Mu, Yinping and Tianmen, each covered with pagodas and temples from the ancient kingdom. A holiday enjoying the breathtaking sights and antique relics in Chaohu is sure to delight during a trip to China's Anhui Province.other spellings: otelin chaohu, chaohu hotell, chaoho hote, chaohuhotels, chaohoo hotle, chaohu hotes
