Introduction to Changzhou - Tianning
Tourists staying at Tianning hotels will find it hard to overlook the biggest attraction in the area, Tianning Temple. This imposing pagoda stands 13-storeys high and though it is only a few years old, the site on which it is built dates back nearly 1,000 years. Also nearby is the small but pretty Dong Po Park on Yanling Road. The remnants of the Song Dynasty Pillars, which were built in 979 AD, are just 100 metres from the park. Another short walk will bring you to Hongmei Park. This splendid green area contains several small lakes which are fed by the picturesque canals running through the neighbourhood. Once all that walking has generated an appetite, head to one of the local shopping malls for a bite to eat and some shopping but be sure not to miss out on the local speciality, a filled pastry bun called sesame bing.
