Introduction to Cangzhou, China
In the northeast province of Hebei, the city of Cangzhou has produced some of the finest martial arts experts in the world. The city is known for its cultivation and instruction of wushu (Chinese martial arts), wuqiao acrobatics and uaiban dagu, a form of Chinese musical performing arts. The city is home to the largest cast-iron sculpture in the world, the Iron Lion of Cangzhou, a 40 tonne sculpture built over 1,000 years ago to protect the then-seaside city from maritime disasters. The lion is the symbol of the city, and the namesake to the region's local beer. China's most thorough collection of Islamic artefacts and manuscripts can be found in one of the city's seven Hui mosques. The perfectly symmetrical Botou Mosque, located just outside Cangzhou, is one of the best known in China. Two popular treats grown here are the Chinese jujube fruit and the Tianjin ya pear. The nearby Bohai Sea supplies local restaurants and Cangzhou hotels with a variety of delicious, fresh seafood. Tourists come from all over the word to see the renowned performance arts and taste the local treats in Cangzhou.other spellings: canzhou otel, cangshou hotell, cangzhuo hote, cankzhuo hotes
