Introduction to Puerto Montt, Chile
Puerto Montt is a wealthy and well-appointed city in southern Chile. Salmon is the main catch of Puerto Montt's huge fishing industry and other forms of aquaculture are big money spinners here too. The local airport is called El Tepual and direct flights are available to and from Sanitago, Concepcion, Temuco and across to the city of Barlioche in neighbouring Argentina. The air journey to the capital of Sntiago takes around two hours. The waterfrot boardwalk is a justifiably famous tourist attraction and many Puerto Montt hotels join the boardwalk with their entrance paths running directly off it. The nearby fishing village of Angelmo boasts lodgings and attractions of its own but most establishments will operate shuttle transfers to many nearby places like Angelmo. The accommodations are usually in the medium price range level with plenty of family run guesthouses and motels offering comfort and friendly service.
