Pucon is a city in Chile with a population in excess of 21,000 people, approximately 100kms southeast of Temuco and 780kms south of the capital, Santiago. Its superb location by the Villarrica Volcano, in the foothills of the Andes, and by the lake which goes by the same name has turned it into a popular all-year-round tourist destination. In addition to the snow-capped volcano, national parks and the picturesque lake, the town centre has developed to be able to handle the number of tourists flocking in. Most the daytime activities are done in the surrounding areas, but the main road which runs through the town, the Avenida Libertador Bernado O'Higgins, is where many of the Pucon City Centre hotels and restaurants can be found. An interesting fact about the town is that many of the streets are named after South American countries which, in theory, could make it less difficult to get lost. It also offers vibrant nightlife, while travel agencies are located at every turn, making it hassle-free to book all further intended trips.
