Introduction to Calama - Airport

El Loa International Airport is the main airport which serves the city of Calama, in Chile. It is one of the biggest airports in Chile and provides a service too much of the Atacama Desert. Three airlines currently offer scheduled domestic flights to the airport: LAN, Sky Airline and PAL Airlines. The airport is also set up to receive private flights from abroad. Sky Airline offers the widest range of direct flights, departing from Santiago, Antofagasta and Iquique, among several other airports. The hub is around four miles from the city centre, but Calama Airport hotels offer another option to those with the earliest departures, as well as those arriving late at night. After transferring to the city, guests will not need their own transportation since it is easy to cover on foot. By flying to El Loa International Airport, guests will save plenty of energy for exploring nearby attractions, such as the geysers at Tatio and the open mine at Chuquicamata.
