Introduction to Vernon, Canada

The Vernon Winter Carnival, held each winter, is one of the main tourism hot zones of this interesting winter resort town in British Columbia and draws many guests to Vernon hotels. The Carnival is the second largest such carnival in North America and it is counter balanced by the town’s budding Sunshine Festival which is held in summer each year. Hotels in Vernon do a lot of business out of the guests, patrons and performers that circulate around the Performing Arts Centre which is a major arts centre in British Columbia. Film festivals and theatre and music festivals are part of the annual catalogue of the Arts Centre. Vernon is a sports town and Vernon hotels will either cater to beach traffic in the summer, and hockey in the winter. Visitors should be prepared to jostle for space with fans and participants during peak periods and quiet spaces can be hard to find during these raucous, wonderfully partisan times.
