Introduction to Vancouver - West End
Surrounded by water on two sides, the West End of Vancouver is an attractive area of the city with abundant heritage and stunning sea views. With its history of immigration from Germany and England, the district is home to a wealth of old properties resplendent with wooden beams and well-manicured gardens, especially on Comox Street. West End hotels here are mainly centred around Burrard Street and Howe Street where the accommodation is generally excellent, with varied options for most budgets. English Bay is among the scenic highlights of Vancouver's West End with its jutting sand banks and waterfront park although the water is unsurprisingly chilly. This area of the city is also the epicentre of the West End gay scene located around Davie Street, between Bute and Burrard. This further adds to the cosmopolitan and diverse feel of the neighbourhood, which ranks as the most vibrant in the whole of Vancouver.Visit our Vancouver Travel Guide
