Introduction to Toronto - Oakville
Oakville is a town located on the shores of Lake Ontario, around 24 miles southwest of Toronto, Canada's biggest city. Both the lakeside and the city centre are great places for strolling around and soaking up the laid-back atmosphere. The city centre hosts a number of interesting shops, such as boutiques, as well as shops selling speciality goods. On the other hand, there is more mainstream shopping at Hopedale Mall. There are a number of parks by the lake as well as some of the oldest houses in Oakville. It's possible to visit the lighthouse and pier, which offer great views of the Toronto skyline on the clearest days. Travellers can get to Oakville hotels by taking a train to the town's main station, which is around a mile north of the city centre. Alternatively, visitors with their own vehicle can get here on the Queen Elizabeth Way, exiting at Trafalgar Road for the city centre or taking the toll roads for the northern districts.Visit our Toronto Travel Guide
