Surrey is a Canadian city of nearly 400,000 people, located in the western province of British Colombia.
In reality, however, the city is considered to be a suburb of British Colombia's capital, Vancouver.
It is made up of several neighbourhoods, but the city centre is considered to be the high-rise area around Surrey Central Skytrain station.
This station is on the Expo Line and allows visitors to reach Surrey City Centre hotels in around 45 minutes, departing from Vancouver's Waterfront Station.
Most central accommodation is within walking distance of one of the biggest malls, Central City.
Central City Tower is also home to the large campus of Simon Fraser University.
To the north of the Skytrain, near 135 Street, swimmers can visit the local indoor pool.
On the other hand, there are a further number of shops, restaurants and banks in and around King George Blvd to the east of the Skytrain.
Many restaurants in this district tend to feature East Indian cuisine, but Chinese, Japanese and Italian are also widely available.
There is also easy access to Bear Creek Park, just 10 minutes' drive along King George Blvd.
The park is home to the city's own arts centre.
