Introduction to Quebec - Beauport
The historic and picturesque community of Beauport may be a suburb of one of North America's oldest cities, Quebec, but its own heritage dates back to 1634. The busiest months for Beauport hotels are between May and October, the same time period when most local attractions are open. Royale Avenue, which runs through the community, is the first road ever established in New France, and many of its buildings date back to the early 17th century. A distillery, flourmill and linseed oil factory are all located in a park sharing the community's name, while another park named Cascades features riverside cycling and hiking paths. However, Montmorency Falls Park is perhaps the most impressive local attraction of all. At a height of 84m, these falls stand 30m taller than Niagara Falls and can safely be seen at several perspectives from a suspension bridge, an aerial tram or a variety of staircases. Montmorency Falls Park's eastern end contains remnants of forts General Wolfe constructed in 1759.Visit our Quebec Travel Guide
