Introduction to Niagara Falls - St. Catharines
St. Catharines is the biggest city in Canada's Niagara region. Of course, many visitors come to the region in order to see the famous waterfalls, but too many make the mistake of bypassing this wonderful city. The city could be said to have its own particular charm. For example, Shorthills Provincial Park is just minutes from the city centre, offering fantastic scenery as well as challenging hiking and biking trails. Alternatively, there are some excellent vineyard tours in the city's west end. At night, there are plenty of pubs to choose from, in either the city centre or Port Dalhousie. Drinking at the latter is more popular in summer, while the city centre is much busier during the cold winter months. There are plenty of places to stay in the city too, where St. Catharines hotels tend to be much cheaper than accommodation in more touristy parts of Niagara. From Toronto, visitors can drive here by taking the Queen Elizabeth Way, while train travellers have several services to choose from.Visit our Niagara Falls Travel Guide
